Dallas - The Texas Rangers came into their three-game series against the Kansas City Royals on Friday sitting six games below the .500 mark at 25-31 after losing six of the past seven games up to this point. The Rangers were swept by their bitter divisional rivals, the Los Angeles Angels, before dropping three of four in the Silver Boot Series against the Houston Astros. Battling key injuries to multiple players, including star shortstop Corey Seager, fan-favorite utility man Josh H. Smith, and blossoming youngster Wyatt Langford, the Rangers desperately needed a spark. Fans suffered another blow when five-time All-Star and former MVP Andrew McCutchen was designated for assignment on Wednesday. The Rangers found themselves greatly needing some sort of success to build off of, and they faced a tough but beatable adversary in the Kansas City Royals, a team that boasts the likes of legendary backstop Salvador Perez and sensational shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. Thanks to a tremendous surge of momentum at Globe Life Field in Arlington, the Rangers most definitely manufactured the success they were looking for to hopefully spark a strong run into the All-Star break. The bats exploded over the three-game series, as the Rangers plated a total of twenty-two runs to the Royals' ten runs. Led by do-it-all utility man Ezequiel Duran, newcomer Nicky Lopez, and veteran slugger Joc Pederson, the Rangers' lineup played some great baseball over the course of this series. As another testament to the Rangers' offensive resurgence, both infielders Jake Burger and Josh Jung collected six hits apiece during the series. Duran, who has been impressive at the plate this year, notched four hits and five RBIs to extend his hitting streak to four games, while coming through in multiple clutch situations. As of June 1, Zeke is slashing .288/.341/.460 across fifty-one games. It is refreshing to see Duran, a fifth-year Ranger and clubhouse glue guy, perform so well with consistency while filling in at short for the injured Corey Seager. Added to the roster following the Rangers' decision to DFA McCutchen, scrappy middle-infielder Nicky Lopez has undoubtedly made an impact on his new team. Signed mostly for his defensive abilities, Lopez arguably impressed even more at the plate, where he produced three RBIs and a homer on five hits against his former team. Lopez instantly filled a need for the Rangers in the series against the Royals, while seeing his first regular playing time since 2024. Pederson, who has struggled to find his typical homerun-hitting form ever since joining the Rangers last season, has heated up significantly recently and carried this momentum into the series against the Royals. Pederson hit two home runs from the leadoff spot during the series, making it five in the last five games, including a pivotal 9th inning shot in game 2 of the series, which sparked the eventual walk-off rally. Speaking of this rally, arguably the most impressive moment of the series came in game two when the Rangers stormed back from a three-run deficit in the bottom of the ninth to beat the Royals in walk-off fashion on a Duran single, which scored outfielder Brandon Nimmo. While the Rangers' bats were impressive, arguably even more impressive was the Rangers' starting pitching performance. The Rangers' starting pitching did not allow a single earned run during the entire series. While Rangers fans might be more familiar with the elite duo of veteran hurlers Jacob deGrom and Nathan Eovaldi, the back end of the rotation deserves the credit in this series against the Royals. MacKenzie Gore, Kumar Rocker, and Jack Leiter each turned in outstanding starts to propel the Rangers to victory in each game of the series. As of June 1, the Rangers' scoreless streak by starters is their longest since 2011. Each pitcher in the rotation has contributed to this phenomenal streak, while the success of Gore, Rocker, and Leiter perhaps remains the most surprising. During his start on Friday, Gore threw six and a third innings, leading the Rangers to a 9-1 win, while only surrendering four hits. Rocker followed Gore up with his own six-inning gem on Saturday, giving up three hits in the Rangers' 7-6 victory. In the final game of the series on Sunday, Leiter carried the broom for the sweep, fanning a whopping ten hitters over five and two-thirds frames. Such significant success on the mound cannot be overlooked, and the Rangers' starting pitching staff appears to be on the rise, which will hopefully complement their solid bullpen, a unit that has already proved itself effective over the course of the season thus far. The Rangers' phenomenal performance in their series against the Royals this past weekend no doubt gives fans hope for the rest of the season, as the team seemingly begins to come into form just when they most desperately needed to. Promising outings from the Rangers' younger starters indicate stronger performance from the pitching staff going forward, anchored by aces deGrom and Eovaldi. A red-hot lineup allows a glimpse of a dangerous Rangers team at its best with playoff aspirations. Things seem to be trending in the right direction for the Rangers, and with another win on Monday behind Jacob deGrom's 100th career win, the team just might be poised to take back their rightful position atop the American League West.

The Dallas Stars now trail the series 3–2 against the Wild, and this isn’t just a tough stretch it feels like something bigger. The energy is gone, the execution is inconsistent, and the confidence that carried this team earlier in the season looks like it’s completely faded. This isn’t about one bad game. It’s about a team that suddenly looks unsure of itself when everything is on the line. The Wild have taken control physically and mentally, and Dallas hasn’t had an answer. Now it comes down to this: win the next two games, or the season is over. So what is it are the Stars just being outplayed, or are they collapsing under pressure when it matters most?

Jesper Wallstedt was a difference-maker in net with 43 saves and a .956 save percentage, keeping the Wild alive under constant pressure. With the series now even, Game 5 becomes a pivotal turning point as both teams fight to take control.

The Dallas Stars take Game 3 in dramatic fashion, beating the Minnesota Wild 4-3 in double overtime to take a 2-1 series lead. Wyatt Johnston delivered the game winner in 2OT, capping off a back and forth battle that never let up. Dallas showed resilience all night, answering every push from Minnesota and proving they can win under pressure. With momentum now on their side, the Stars are starting to look like a team built for a deep playoff run.
The Dallas Stars bounced back with a 4 to 2 win over the Minnesota Wild in Game 2 to even the series at one game apiece. After giving up the first goal Dallas stayed composed and responded with steady pressure that shifted momentum in their favor. Wyatt Johnston led the way with two goals including a late empty netter while Matt Duchene and Jason Robertson added key scoring to build the lead. Minnesota got both of its goals from Brock Faber but could not keep up with Dallas as the game wore on. Jake Oettinger made 28 saves and controlled the game late to secure the win and reset the series heading into Game 3.
Brandon Nimmo recorded his 1,000th career hit on April 18, 2026, marking a major milestone in his steady rise as one of the most consistent hitters in baseball.
The Minnesota Wild did not just win Game 1. They took control of the series from the start and made it clear this is not going to be easy for Dallas. Minnesota beat the Dallas Stars 6 to 1 on the road, stealing home ice and completely setting the tone. From the opening period, the Wild looked faster, sharper, and way more prepared for playoff hockey. Joel Eriksson Ek got things going early with a power play goal, and it only got worse for Dallas from there. In the second period, the Wild exploded. Kirill Kaprizov scored less than a minute in, Ryan Hartman followed, and Matt Boldy added another to make it 4 to 0 before Dallas could even settle in. The Stars finally got on the board with a power play goal from Jason Robertson, but it never felt like a comeback was coming. Minnesota answered again in the third with another power play goal from Eriksson Ek, and Boldy sealed it late to make it 6 to 1. Boldy and Eriksson Ek both finished with two goals and one assist, leading a Wild offense that looked dangerous every time they touched the puck. Kaprizov added a goal and two assists, and Mats Zuccarello quietly had three assists, controlling the flow all night. The difference in this game was execution. Minnesota capitalized on their chances and took advantage of Dallas mistakes. The Stars, despite a strong regular season, looked out of rhythm and struggled to generate real pressure outside of special teams. In net, Jesper Wallstedt was locked in, stopping 27 of 28 shots and shutting down any chance of momentum for Dallas. Jake Oettinger, on the other hand, gave up five goals and never really looked comfortable behind a defense that couldn’t slow Minnesota down. Now the Wild lead the series 1 to 0 and have already taken home ice advantage. Game 1 does not decide a series, but it does reveal a lot, and right now Minnesota looks like the team in control. If Dallas does not respond in Game 2, this series could shift fast.
